The Reserve Bank of India made the big decision to protect the ATM card. Usually, we call the bank to get a debit card or credit card lost or stolen, to stop it. But this time it will not be so. According to the new RBI directive, from now on you can switch off and debit your debit or credit card at will.

 The central bank has asked all banks and card issuers to facilitate the timely closing and launch of their customers' debit or credit cards. The option to turn on or off a credit or debit card can be found through Internet banking, ATM machine or mobile app.

According to the RBI, the facility should be available 24 hours a day. However, new benefits will not apply to cards like prepaid gift cards and metro cards. Under the new rules, customers will be able to limit and set transactions. This rule will be effective from March 1, 2020.
